Confirmation
Confirmation is the sacrament that completes Baptism; in it the gift of the Holy Spirit is bestowed upon us. Anyone who freely decides to live a life as God’s child and asks for God’s Spirit under the signs of the imposition of hands and anointing with Chrism receives the strength to witness to God’s love and might in word and deed. They are now a full-fledged, responsible member of the Catholic Church (YOUCAT 203).
Adults approaching this sacrament would go through the RCIA catechises in the local parish. This includes a special formation program culminating in their Confirmation at Easter. To enter the RCIA program, one needs to speak to one of the priests or deacons at the parish.
Children would approach Confirmation through the children’s catechism program at the local church, run throughout the school terms. This sacrament is done normally in grade 11 (16 years old), after having completed their First Confession and First Holy Communion. To join the youth catechism program, registration is normally done at the beginning of the year, however a parish catechist can be spoken to.
